SDR Academy Advisory is a player-first hockey advisory business helping athletes and families navigate the path from youth hockey to junior, prep school, NCAA, and beyond. With a team of experienced coaches and former high-level players, we offer personalised guidance in recruitment, academic planning, mental performance, and career development. We’re here to give players clarity, confidence, and a trusted support system every step of the way.
Why Do We Do THIS?
Hockey is more than a sport—it’s a journey filled with big dreams, tough decisions, and defining moments. At SDR Academy Advisory, we started this business because we saw a gap. Too many players and families were unsure of what steps to take, overwhelmed by options, or left to navigate critical career choices without the right guidance. We knew we could change that.

Our roots are in player development through SDR Academy, where we’ve spent years coaching, training, and mentoring athletes across Calgary and beyond. As our players began to ask, “What’s next?”—we knew it was time to do more. SDR Advisory was born out of a desire to not only train players but to walk with them through every stage of their hockey careers.
Led by a team that’s been there—on the ice, in the dressing room, and through the ups and downs of elite competition—we bring real experience and real perspective. Whether a player is aiming for the CHL, NCAA, or just wants to maximise their potential, our mission is to support them with a clear, honest, and future-focused plan.

Let's Get Started
Application & Initial Call
Begin by completing a brief online application so we can learn about your athlete’s goals, background and current skill level. Once received, we’ll arrange an introductory call to discuss your family’s needs, answer any questions and gain a fuller understanding of what success looks like for your athlete.

Review & Coach Matching
After our conversation, our team carefully reviews all submitted information—taking into account playing style, personality and development objectives—to match your athlete with the coach best suited to help them excel. We prioritise compatibility, communication style and shared values to ensure a strong, long-term partnership.

Kickoff & Ongoing Support
With your coach assigned, we schedule the first assessment and bespoke training sessions. From there, we maintain regular check-ins, provide transparent progress reports and adapt the plan as your athlete grows. You’ll always know where they stand, what’s next and how to continue fostering their development on and off the ice.
